Biography —
Professor Coil joined the KUME Department as an Associate Professor of the Practice after 20+ years of both numerical and experimental work in the aerospace and automotive industries. Most recently, at Convergent Science, Inc (CSI), she collaborated with clients to apply and test subgrid models for dispersed phase and combustion simulations. At ORBITEC/Sierra Nevada Corporation, she conducted many research projects in the SBIR/STTR program to investigate hypergolic fuels and their ignition, non-Newtonian breakup of sprays, gamma techniques for two-phase flow, and new propulsion system development. At KU, Professor Coil helps lead the capstone design program and teaches thermo-fluids courses.
