Mechanical Engineering Undergraduates
As Mechanical Engineering undergraduate students, you are assigned staff academic advisors through Jayhawk Academic Advising and a faculty member to help guide you through your undergraduate academic career as well as plan for a career in mechanical engineering. Both of these can be found in your Jayhawk GPS portal. In addition to your advisor and mentor you can contact either:
Undergraduate Program Coordinator kume@ku.edu
Dr. Robb Sorem (faculty Executive Associate Chair) sorem@ku.edu
They can both help answer course, degree, or career questions throughout your undergraduate career.
We are pleased that you are part of KU’s Mechanical Engineering Department; and we are most supportive of
1) your continued progress toward, and completion of, your BSME; and
2) then, with your BSME, obtaining the best position to fit into your career plans.
The information included at this site, as highlighted by the navigation bar to the left, is designed to assist in your academic endeavors. Please become familiar with that information, so that you are prepared to complete your degree and proceed into professional engineering practice.
For completing your degree, information is provided on: policies, enrollment, degree and credit hour requirements, degree options, and the overall curriculum.
For building your background and resume outside of KUME’s academic environment, there is information on: study abroad, cooperative education/work, internships, student organizations, and searching for permanent jobs.
Beyond KUME, there is information on professional engineering licensing and other activities directed toward the future.
If you have questions, please direct those to ME faculty whom you know or email kume@ku.edu. KU-ME faculty and staff are ready to assist in planning for your academic success and/or for your life-long learning/career objectives.
