Shiguang Deng

Dr. Deng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2016. Before joining the University of Kansas in 2024, he was a research associate at Northwestern University (2023-2024), a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California Irvine (2020-2022), and a research engineer in the design optimization team of MSC Nastran (2016-2019). His research vision is to develop data-driven physics-informed design intelligence for advanced material-structure systems by leveraging machine learning, data science, and computational mechanics. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal and conference articles as well as licensed patents.
